Matt's Triathlon for Raw Hope
Donate To This CampaignA message from Matt Scott:
This bike and I have travelled 9,676km together over the last 10 years, completing 3 Olympic-distance triathlons in the process. This picture is from a long training ride in September. Some friends from my local triathlon club cycled from Burlington to Niagara Falls (about 90km). This is the bike I intend to ride the Muskoka Half-Ironman with.
- Donate: Your contribution, no matter the amount, can go a long way in providing hope and opportunities for these children. I would love for 100 people to join me in becoming regular Raw Hope supporters. You can be one of those by following the link on this page.
- Spread the Word: Even if you can't make a financial contribution, would you consider sharing this message with your friends, family, and colleagues can help raise awareness about World Vision's work in fragile contexts? I’ve got time to train and I’ve got time to tell stories too. I will come to your home or workplace or place of worship and talk about why supporting children in fragile contexts matters right now.
- Pray, if that’s your thing. Hey, it never hurts to pray for peace, and what’s the worst that could happen? I pray for peace a lot, and many of you do too. But if that’s not your thing, take a moment to pause and reflect on the world’s pretty dire headlines and imagine that peace and justice are possible for the world’s most vulnerable people.
Just like a triathlon has three different disciplines, committing to children in conflict-affected countries requires helping children and their families: a) survive crises, b) recover their resilience, and c) build hopeful futures
Thank you for considering my request. Your support means the world to me, and it will mean even more to the children we stand with.
Thanks for your encouragement and support.
This is me five years ago in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, wearing my Team World Vision T-shirt, in front of a school in Busanza, North Kivu. World Vision helped the community here construct their own school with a new toilet block, and provided teacher training and some school materials, among other things. North Kivu is an incredibly beautiful and fragile part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I can talk for hours about the challenges that children manage to overcome in this community.
