6 kilometers is the average distance that people in the developing world walk for water — water that is often contaminated with life-threatening diseases. On Saturday, May 6th, 2017, people from around the globe will walk or run an average distance for an extraordinary cause.

how it works

Each participant's registration of $50 goes to World Vision's Water Initiatives. After you register, you will receive a World Vision Global 6K for Water t-shirt, race bib, and medal in the mail. Map out a 6km route in your neighbourhood or attend a bigger gathering at a host site. Walk or run with your friends and family on Saturday, May 6th, 2017, and post your photos on social media with the hashtag #6KforWater!

World Vision Canada Youth Team is partnering with Team World Vision for the 2017 World Vision Global 6k for Water, in lieu of the Water Walk. When you register to walk or run the Global 6k, you can also take the #LiveLikeAlex Challenge by filling a jerry can and walking 6 kilometers.
